How much Commitments, Challenges & Streaks help in Coding Career?

You might have came across some posts while scrolling to your home feed on social media handles be it LinkedIn, be it Twitter or be it Instagram which says something like following

"#100daysofcode", "#50daysofcode"
"codewithxyz", "codechallengetoxyz"

Undoubtedly, you will say - Yes! We have seen such posts.
Now, there can be a bunch of questions which might strike to your mind while seeing such posts.

What is it?
What are the benefits of doing so?
Why they do so in public?
Does this even practically possible to learn daily, after all we are humans there are various distractions?
How can you get started with such streak?

So, before moving ahead, let's know most important thing:

Why people make "Public Commitment" before taking any challenge?

So, most of the introvert wonder "Why people make fuss about their learning?" so making it clear, its not fuss actually. Studies suggest:

People tend to complete publicly committed tasks more seriously and quickly than other random picked tasks.

Even hashnode believes in it. It gives you motivation to drive till the end of commitment. So, suggestion: Do take such Challenges of learning often and try to complete it whatsoever committed.

Does these Streak Challenge really benefit?

Of course, Yes!
As long as you are not fooling yourself by just counting the days or copy-pasting others stuff instead of completing the committed task.
The benefit of Challenge also depends upon "How do you take it?", whether you are enjoying the process or not. It's so obvious that you will have troubles in completing the challenge. For the first few it will look exciting to you and everything will go as per your plan. But as you move ahead after around 5 days your productivity in the work will be reduced than what it was when you started with it. And, most of the people break their streak at this point of time.
Hold on!! It's Patience & Consistency Checking Time if you kept giving time to your work without caring about productivity, soon you will realize that the streaks are actually benefiting you.

What all hurdles one faces while ongoing Streak?

As mentioned earlier that its so certain, after few days you will eel like to leave it off. See, the initial days are toughest however you have enough self motivation to keep it going. Most likely people leave after completing 15-20 days since there will be no driving force to keep going, so my advice "Just think of end result & tell it to self that if you leave it here your so far completed 15-20 days will in vain and you have to start it all over again from scratch to learn the same".
Let's say you committed to have 100daysofcode and you stuck in between due to following: unable to solve questions, can't spare time or thinking of "How others made so much of achievement in coding?"
Then, let me tell you one thing for sure that you are a human😛 and a coder too(since every coder has these questions in their mind). If you stuck at such places just refer to Tutorials over youtube, revise your DSA and Programming Language basics, read the logic over GFG or any other platform.

How did I get Started with such Streaks and guidance to you one for the same?

Feeling great to say so, I am on 25 day of 100 of streak with Scaler Academy and believe me I am so happy in sharing my experience since a person like me who was so inconsistent in whatever work I do and especially coding. And, now I have been successfully practicing questions over various coding platforms like @geeksforgeeks @Leetcode & @InterviewBit.
Here, some screenshots of practice over GFG, Leetcode and interviewBit:

leetcode2.PNG interviewbit-21.PNG So, as you can see there are days when I had no submissions but that doesn't mean I broke my streak, these were the most difficult days I should say when I practiced more than any other day but failed to have even a single successful submission. But it's quite natural if it happens with you too, don't worry just keep on going and you will achieve the purpose of your streaks. You can find my latest tweet of day 24 here Now, that today I will be done with my 25 days of streak, I had planned to work even better for the upcoming days of streaks that is to delve into the development(specifically app dev & web dev) part soon. And the edge for me to practice even more is that now I have my summer vacation ongoing right now so there are no college classes.
And I believe if I can maintain such streaks then I think anyone could. So, go ahead take the challenge and complete your streaks. Celebrate your small achievement and it will eventually constitute in a large achievement. Don't wait for opportunity to knock at your door just move out of your box and grab one.
Last but of course not the least I would like to thank Scaler Academy for giving me this awesome opportunity.
